Smarter IT resource planning to inspire market leaders
Perhaps you would rarely associate IT with the word inspiration, but the application of open-source enterprise resource planning (ERP) software has the capability to transform the way an organisation converts its sales leads into new business and galvanises its team.
This was exactly what Lancashire based Inspired Energy plc wanted to achieve when they called upon the services of Smart IT to help them devise, build and implement a new telesales system to improve management information, streamline workflow and help their telesales agents perform better. The new system has helped increase telesales conversion rates by 30%.
“Smart IT was tasked with implementing a telesales and workflow process system built in Open ERP, to allow a broader range of functionality and the ability to adapt to the changing needs of the business, as we grow,” explained Inspired Energy founder and managing director Janet Thornton.
“We wanted to improve our workflow systems, management information and reporting capabilities so that we could ensure our telesales staff are automatically allocated leads, based on a category and without the frustration of duplication.
“We also knew that we could use Open ERP to track hot leads and improve our success rate with business renewals.
“Open ERP now allows us to store important client information and trigger follow up reminders so that we manage the contract process from start to finish – from the moment a copy utility bill comes in through to making cost comparisons and managing their switch over. It prevents business opportunities from slipping through our fingers.”
Smart IT delivered a system to meet these requirements and to help develop new business workflow processes which ensure telesales agents have an accurate pipeline and a fixed number of quality leads and call backs. In short, the new system makes life much easier for the agents to concentrate on talking to customers about what the company can do for them.
“We now have a much better handle on audit and control,” adds Janet, “All of this makes a positive contribution to staff morale and an improved working environment.”
The Smart system has been equipped with multi company capabilities which will allow for the alteration of workflow procedures and the introduction of new screens and buttons depending on the business unit concerned.
Smart IT is working with a range of industry clients to introduce OpenERP systems as a single solution to bring their business processes under one suite of applications, allowing them to monitor business performance far more accurately.
